CSIC & Universidad de Sevilla
Dr. Nieto got his Ph. D in Madrid under the supervision of Prof. Javier de Mendoza at the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, in the field of supramolecular chemistry in 1994. Then he moved to London to the Medical Research Council (NIMR, Mill Hill) working in Protein NMR in “the basis of the allosteric behavior of the Dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR)” with Dr. Jim Feeney where he became familiar with protein NMR and multinuclear methods. Return to Spain in 1997 at the Institute for Chemical Research (IIQ), joining the Carbohydrate Group of Prof. M. Martin-Lomas where he has been working on the application of NMR to carbohydrate structure. Full-member of the CSIC since 2001 started his research group and moved the topic towards biomolecular interactions between proteins and carbohydrates of biological interest. He is Scientific Director of the new Biomolecular Interaction Platform hosted in cicCartuja in Sevilla.
