Canine Cancer Diagnostic Program

Cellmid has already established that serum midkine level is a powerful indicator of early stage cancer in humans. Midkine is also potentially useful for disease detection in animals due to its highly conserved structure and function. Cancer in pet dogs represents a large and growing veterinary market with unmet needs for diagnosis, disease screening and treatment monitoring. In its CAN104 program, Cellmid is monitoring midkine serum levels in canine cancer using Cellmid’s validated MK ELISA. Cellmid plans to use this data, to produce a rapid, cost-effective ‘point of care’ assay for veterinarians to diagnose cancer in dogs.
